Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does it feel like to be hypnotized?
A: You will feel completely relaxed, your body will feel heavy and your senses will seem heightened.
Q: What is a posthypnotic suggestion?
A: This is a suggestion that your practitioner may make to you while you are under hypnosis that will continue to be effective once you are out of the hypnotic state.
Q: Do you have control over your thoughts and actions while under hypnosis?
A: Your value systems remain firmly in place while under hypnosis. Any suggestion can be rejected exactly as you would if you were not under hypnosis.
Q: Can you really recover repressed memories while under hypnosis?
A: Yes, because all memories are stored. However, as with any filing system, information that is used more frequently is easier to access, and sensitive information is often stored in the deepest recesses of the system.
Q: Can hypnosis cure addictions?
A: Because hypnosis only works if the client willingly accepts the suggestion, any addict truly wanting to quit will discover that the pain of withdrawal can be reduced dramatically, making quitting much easier. However, most addictions have their roots in an existing emotional problem which needs to be treated as part of the therapy.
